AAC Device Assistance in Arizona

Communication access is one of All Hands in Autism Foundation’s areas of family support. Arizona families can contact us about AAC devices and related communication-access needs. Each request is considered according to the person’s needs, program eligibility and the resources currently available.

What is AAC?

Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) includes tools that add to or replace speech, such as picture boards, communication apps and speech-generating devices. A speech-language pathologist can help assess communication needs and identify suitable options. You do not need to select a device before asking AHIAF about assistance.

Tell us what communication support would help

Explain how the person communicates now and the barrier you are hoping to address. A helpful request can describe an existing device, an app or tool being considered, or a recommendation that has already been made. You do not need to know every technical term to start the conversation.

Start with the person, not a product promise

A particular brand, tablet, app or device is not guaranteed through a support request. Let us know about preferences and existing supports so we can better understand the need. Asking about assistance does not replace an individualized assessment or advice from the professionals supporting the person’s communication.

How do I request AAC assistance?

Use Get Help on our official website and identify communication access as the area of need. Follow the form’s instructions and ask our team how to share any requested documentation privately. Do not post evaluation records in a public message or social-media comment.

What should I expect?

Availability, eligibility and funding vary. An available device, reimbursement amount or delivery date has not been confirmed on this page. Our team can review your request and explain possible next steps. AHIAF’s past device assistance does not guarantee a device for a new applicant.

Where can I learn about devices, training and funding?

PRC-Saltillo provides information about AAC devices, communication apps, training and how to find an AAC consultant. Its website also links to funding information. These are outside resources: AHIAF does not determine their coverage, costs, eligibility or approval decisions. Ask the provider and your communication professional which next step fits your situation.
